What is Chuseok?

Chuseok falls on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar—when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. Families across Korea travel back to their hometowns to spend time together, prepare traditional dishes, and perform charye (차례), a ritual honouring ancestors.

For 2025, Chuseok Day falls on Monday, October 6th, with the official public holiday period extending from Sunday, October 5th, to Wednesday, October 8th.
